See in the night

zebra crossing is a type of pedestrian crossing used in many places around the world. Its distinguishing feature is alternating dark and light stripes on the road surface, from which it derives its name. A zebra crossing typically gives extra rights of way to pedestrians.
The crossing is characterised by longitudinal stripes on the road, parallel to the flow of the traffic, alternately a light colour and a dark one. The similarity of these markings to those of a zebra give the crossing's name. The light colour is usually white and the dark colour may be painted – in which case black is typical – or left unpainted if the road surface itself is dark.

Anti-reflective material and patterning method

The invention provides an anti-reflective material comprising a salt of a carboxyl-terminated fluorinated alkyl polyether compound with a water-soluble amino compound. A resist pattern is defined by forming anti-reflective layer of the anti-reflective material on a photoresist layer, exposing the photoresist layer to a desired pattern of light, removing the anti-reflective layer, and developing the photoresist layer. A fine resist pattern having improved dimensional and alignment accuracies can be defined in a simple, efficient, reproducible manner without substantial environmental pollution. The invention is advantageously utilized in photo-lithography using photoresists.

"Reflection" by Diane Chamberlain

Reflection  (1996)
A novel by Diane Chamberlain

From Publishers Weekly
Lightning strikes an elderly woman in the gripping beginning of Chamberlain's (Brass Ring) latest. Too bad the electricity ends there, as the story slackens into an unlikely, melodramatic, often sentimental tale of tragedy, unrequited love and forgiveness. The plot centers around Rachel Huber, a schoolteacher in her early 40s who has returned to her small hometown of Reflection, Penn., to care for Helen Huber, her long-estranged grandmother and the victim of that lightning bolt. The inhabitants of Reflection, it turns out, despise Rachel because of a tragedy that occurred 20 years earlier. She is harassed by store clerks, though the spunky owner of a beauty salon decides to forgive this prodigal daughter, despite the beautician having perhaps more reason than most to hate her. In time, Rachel reignites a romance with an old friend and secret love who's now an unhappily married Mennonite minister. Further secrets are brought to light, revealing that there's more to Helen than meets the eye. All this takes place without much discernible character development, however, making the sugar-coated finale that much more predictable.
